Things to do in Winter

The holiday season is here, although everyone is excited for a well deserved break, it is difficult to remain upbeat when comparing staying in Worcester to your friend’s Instagram photos in the tropics. Not to fret, there are a number of incredible indoor and outdoor activities that will surely be fun and even Instagram worthy. So here is a list of activities which will make your winter break memorable!

Ski Ward: Go tubing, snowboarding, skiing, or racing at the Skiward in Shrewsbury. Do not worry if the icy mountains are new terrain as there are number of different lesson programs offered under experienced staff members. This is a perfect activity to experience the fun that snow can bring for a minimal cost!

Boston Common Frog Pond:

Skywalk Observatory: Visit the top of 52 floors and get a sweeping 360-degree view of greater Boston and beyond at the Skywalk Observatory, Boston’s only sky-high vantage point. Rock Climbing: Challenge yourself this winter, by spending some time scaling some walls. Enjoy Rock climbing in Boston by Rockspot Climbing. Need a challenge a little closer to campus? Then look no further than Worcester’s very own Central Rock Gym! Site: http://boston.rockspotclimbing.com/

Escape games in Worcester: Give yourself an adrenaline rush and experience full interactive real live action challenges. Your team must solve a series of riddles and clues to find a way out of the room within 60 minutes. Each room has a different theme and story line and is definitely a must do activity in Worcester. Yankee Candle Village: Visit the Yankee Candle Village in Deerfield, MA and learn the art of making candles during the winter season. Besides, they have a lot of other events like tree lighting, snow showers, war works which you can enjoy. The Worcester Common Oval Public Ice Skating Rink will officially open for the season on the 9th of December. The hours of operation are Thursday and Fridays from 5:00pm to 8:00pm; as well as Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00pm to 6:00pm. The hours will also be extended during the December Vacation. Skating admission (including skate rental) is $10 but you can receive a $5 discount if you bring your own skates. An added benefit this year is inclusion of WOOville Winter Wonderland pop-up sheds with rotating craft and food vendors.
